Sunday Roast

My neighbor/friend C invited me over for a Sunday roast dinner. It was such a beautiful dinner replete with apple sauce, crackling, gravy, crispy green beans, white cheese sauce and cauliflower, my only regret was not taking a picture of the food. Her place smelled divine as we all sat around sipping red wine while waiting for the roast in the oven to finish cooking. The company was just as pleasant, everyone was so welcoming and warm; it almost felt like Thanksgiving without the turkey. It was a nice hearty meal on a Sunday to fuel up before the new hectic work week started. The dinner was extra nice because I had just talked to the parentals on the phone today and was really homesick for a nice home cooked meal. While nothing beats mom's recipes, tonight's meal was comforting a la home style. It just goes to show nothing beats good food, wine, and company in life. Simple.
