From Left to Right: Officemates, Taking a shot of QF.
I arrived to my first day of work not at all nervous. I was stressed I would not get there by the time I had intended since I do not know the bus system too well and the rush hour factor. Luckily I was able to catch a bus and get there.
When my manager came down to get me I did not recognize him because he had a "mo" otherwise known as a mustache. November is called "Movember" for a men's health charity event that encourages men to grow facial hair to raise money. I got introduced to the team and everyone was super friendly. I supposed they were in a good mood because it was Friday, and they were finishing at 4pm to get ready for the Christmas Party.
First day went by rather quickly. On-boarding process was inefficient as expected. Even though they had filed the requests with IT weeks ago, and I had a login and password. We still had to call HelpDesk to log on. So far I only have email functioning. My internet access is still pending....
I can tell I am going to like my team already, especially Gurish. He reminds me of an Indian Dave Chapelle. He's really funny and outgoing. People you would not expect to get down on the dance floor actually got jiggy with it to classic American rock being covered by the live band; everyone up to the CEO.
While everyone at work became instant family I still feel homesick. I thought the multitude of places and things to see would detract from missing home, but I realized it only made it worse. Walking through the weekend market by the harbor under a light mist of rain was not as wonder filled as I thought, mainly because there was no one to share the experience with. Perhaps I should be more patient with the city and myself. It has only been 4 days since I touched down, things can only improve, right?

Hey Po - already going to a Christmas party! Good for you! You are going to have such a great time there. Sorry I missed you online the other day. I try not to get on the computer when I am doing the late night/early morning feedings. Makes it hard to go back to sleep! Talk to you soon!
